1. About these terms

spo.me is a Cardanoscan service, run by the operator of Cardanoscan ("we", "us"). These terms cover buying and using a username on spo.me.

You buy usernames in the Cardanoscan console at console.cardanoscan.io. When you place an order, you accept these terms and the refund policy. If you don't agree with them, don't buy a username.

2. What a username is

• A username gives you a short link, spo.me/name, that opens the Cardanoscan page of the stake pool you choose.
• It is a redirect and nothing more. It isn't a domain name, a token, an NFT or a record on the Cardano blockchain. It gives you the right to use the short link under these terms; it doesn't make you the owner of the name, of spo.me or of any trademark.
• A name has 1 to 30 characters: the letters a to z, the digits 0 to 9, and hyphens, each hyphen between two letters or digits. Capital letters count as small ones, so spo.me/Alice and spo.me/alice are the same username.
• A name on spo.me and the same name on drep.me are two separate usernames.
• A username stays with the account that bought it. It can't be moved to another account.

3. Your account

• You need a Cardanoscan console account with a verified email address. We may block an account that breaks these terms; a blocked account can't buy, change or delete usernames.
• An account can hold up to five usernames on spo.me at a time. Orders waiting for payment and suspended usernames count. A username stops counting when it is deleted or released, or when its order lapses.
• You are responsible for your account and for everything done with it.

4. Names that can't be bought

Some names aren't for sale: words the service needs (such as admin or legal), our own brands, offensive words, and names we reserve, for example for exchanges and other projects. We decide what is reserved and may change the list at any time. A change to the list doesn't take away a username someone already has.

The console tells you when a name can't be bought. That check can miss a name that breaks these terms, and buying a name doesn't protect it from section 9.

5. Buying a username

• Price. The price depends on the length of the name, and the console shows it before you order. We may change prices at any time. The amount of an order is fixed when you place it.
• Reservation. An order reserves the name for you for 60 minutes, and gives you the amount to pay, in ADA, and a payment address made for that order.
• Paying. Send the amount in ADA to the order's address. You may pay in more than one transaction: everything that arrives in time counts towards the amount.
• Deadline. A payment counts only if the block that holds it was made no more than 10 minutes after the 60 minutes end. What counts is the time of that block on the Cardano blockchain, not when you sent the payment. The 10 minutes are for payments already on their way; don't plan on them.
• Confirmation. We count a payment once its block is 10 blocks deep in the chain, usually about 3 minutes after the block is made. Until then the console shows the order as awaiting payment.
• Completion. When the payments that count reach the amount, the username is yours, and its short link starts working shortly afterwards.
• Fees. You pay the network fees. Some exchanges and wallets take their fee out of the amount you send: make sure the full amount arrives, and send any shortfall before the deadline.
• ADA only. Native tokens sent to the address don't count towards the amount, and they aren't returned.
• Lapsed orders. If the payments that count don't reach the amount by the deadline, the order lapses and the name is released. Your account can't reserve the same name again for 24 hours.

6. All sales are final

We don't refund payments and we don't cancel orders, wherever you live.

A username is supplied as soon as your payment is complete. When you place an order, you ask us to supply it straight away, and you agree that once it is yours you can't withdraw from the purchase or cancel it.

In particular:

• If you pay more than the amount, the username is yours and we keep the difference.
• If the payments that count don't reach the amount by the deadline, the order lapses, the name is released for anyone to buy, and we keep what you paid.
• A payment in a block made after the deadline doesn't count, even if the name is still free, and we keep it.
• We keep payments sent to the address of an order that is already complete or has lapsed.
• We keep native tokens sent to an order's address.
• You can't cancel an order. An order waiting for payment lapses on its own when its time runs out.

The refund policy sets out the same rules.

7. Pointing your username

• You choose the stake pool your username points to, in the console, when you order or at any time later. You can change it or clear it whenever you like. A username that points to nothing shows a page saying it isn't linked yet.
• You can point a username at any registered stake pool. We don't check that you run the pool, and a username that points to a pool doesn't mean its operator knows about it or agrees with it.
• Cardanoscan may show usernames on the page of the pool they point to, and chooses which ones. On the page of a pool that its operator has verified on Cardanoscan, only the operator's own usernames are shown.

8. Deleting a username

You can delete an active username in the console at any time. Deleting is permanent:

• the short link stops working, usually within a minute;
• the name is free straight away, and anyone can buy it, you included;
• to get it back you have to buy it again, at the price at that time, if it is still free;
• nothing is refunded.

You can't delete an order that is waiting for payment, which lapses on its own, or a username we have suspended.

9. Acceptable use, suspension and release

Don't use a username:

• to impersonate a person, a stake pool, a company or a project, or to mislead people about who is behind a stake pool;
• with a name that is offensive or that infringes someone else's rights, such as a trademark;
• for scams, for phishing or for anything else unlawful.

If we believe a username breaks these terms, if we receive a credible complaint about it, or if the law requires it, we may, without notice:

• suspend it: its short link stops working until we lift the suspension;
• change or clear the stake pool it points to;
• release it: it leaves your account, and anyone can buy it.

No refund is due when we do. To report a username, contact us.

10. How long a username lasts

• A username doesn't expire, and there is nothing to renew. It stays yours for as long as we run spo.me, unless you delete it or we release it under section 9.
• We mean to run spo.me for the long term, but we can't promise to run it forever. If we decide to close it, we will say so on this site at least 90 days before the short links stop working. No refund is due when the service closes.

11. Availability and liability

• spo.me is provided as it is. We don't promise that a short link will always work: maintenance, faults, and problems with the Cardano network or with our providers can interrupt it.
• We aren't responsible for the stake pools that usernames point to, or for what their pages on Cardanoscan show, which comes from the Cardano blockchain.
• To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for anything to do with a username is limited to what you paid for it.

12. Privacy

• Payments on the Cardano blockchain are public: anyone can see the payment address, the amount and the transactions.
• Your console account and your orders are covered by Cardanoscan's privacy policy.
• spo.me runs no trackers and no advertising. We keep limited request logs to run and protect the service.

13. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We will publish each new version on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. A change doesn't affect orders placed before it; for your usernames, it applies from the day it is published. If you don't accept a change, you can delete your usernames, but no refund is due.

14. Law and contact

• These terms are governed by the law that applies where the operator of the service is established, and the courts of that place decide any dispute about them.
